The war of the contestado from the view of the work the jagunço:

This article aims to approach the Contestado War from the perspective of maximum manifestation of violence perpetrated by the Brazilian State, in the service of business interests and local and regional colonels. It is demonstrated that violence, in its multiple forms, also acts to annihilate the memory, practices, experiences and worldview of the losers. For the winner, it is configured as a mechanism to legitimize the brutality of his action by disqualifying the other, the one who was violated in the most diverse ways, whether by physical, symbolic or discursive means. From this perspective of analysis, we propose to reflect on the discursive violence present in the work O Jagunço, in which the role of women in the Contestado Movement is made invisible. Therefore, the resistance of the defeated through the preservation of their memory, and above all the reflection and debate around their worldview, is socially legitimate, urgent and necessary in the face of the symbolic perpetuation of war through literary means.
