Abstract

This paper presents an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model based on a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) architecture for a binary classification problem aimed at predicting the probability of adolescents aged 12 to 16 having Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD). The model was developed using deep learning techniques and trained on 70% of a dataset containing 248 participants, each described by 17 attributes. The input data consist of behavioral characteristics derived from the AQ-10 adolescent questionnaire — obtained from the University of California Irvine (UCI) Machine Learning Repository — supplemented by seven sociodemographic features. The algorithm was implemented in Python using the Keras API with the TensorFlow library. Furthermore, to improve accessibility, the model was deployed as a publicly available web application named TRIA-TEA Adolescente, which serves as an initial screening tool for identifying potential ASD traits. Developed in Portuguese, the application is designed to facilitate use by parents, educators, and healthcare professionals.
