Abstract

Osteoporosis is a systemic disease that results in reduced bone mass and deterioration of the micro-architecture of the bone tissue, leading to loss of muscle strength and the consequent predisposition fractures with minor trauma, reaching everyone, especially women after menopause. With the ageing of the population, its frequency increases explosively reaching a legion of people, becoming a serious problem of public health. The isokinetic evaluation allows the study of the dynamic function of the muscles through a quantitative evaluation of the arc of motion, the strength and variables of muscle performance. This study was to assess the object of muscle moment flexion of knees expanders in women of 120, 180 and 240 º/s. The conclusion is that the knees sports expanders (quadriceps) are stronger than the flexor (hamstring), and that the flexor muscles presented no relationship between speed and peak of muscle moment, moreover, physical exercise is of fundamental importance in maintaining muscle mass and consequently the torque (power) muscle of older women with osteoporosis. Key-words : muscular torque, osteoporosis, isokinetic , woman.
