Abstract

Study of the exploratory-descriptive type of quantitative approach was conducted with 69 (sixty-nine) seniors with an average age of 75,40 years ranging from 53 to 90 years, members of four (4) institutions asylum from João Pessoa. Aimed to verify the quality of life of elderly institutionalized these institutions. Data were collected by means of WHOQOL-bref, version in Portuguese, to assess the quality of life. The results were obtained using the descriptive statistics (frequency, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics. The study showed difference of Qualities of Life of gender, while men are assessed better and have better psychological well-being, due to more positive feelings, take life more and have more power of concentration than women. The activities offered by some institutions surveyed have provided better quality of life, it enables greater motor coordination, stimulate thinking and creativity of older people.
