Abstract

This study is characterized as a descriptive study. His goals were mapping the social profile, risk factors, dietary habits and feeding frequency of hypertensive patients and its relationship to hypertension. We interviewed a 41 hypertensive ESF in Dourados-MS, where a questionnaire was applied. We obtained a higher number of women than men, the average age was between 60 and 65 and most are illiterate. Both sexes reported that addition of salt in food interfere in a negative way on their health. The consumption of caffeine was reported by almost all men and women, because the alcohol was reported by only 12.9% of women and 30% of men, tobacco showed considerable differences, 60% of men against 25.8% of women . Participants reported on the most it had received information on nutrition. Regarding the consumption of saturated fat, only 10% of men and 12.9% of women reported consuming. The participants were carrying out 3 to 5 meals day, and they eat all the food groups each day, except the men who consume almost no vegetables. Showed statistical differences only in quantity of water consumed by them, men eat 3 to 5 cups / day, women have 6 to 8 glasses per day. For risk factors, dietary habits and food often was not according to the analysis, considerable differences. It is necessary that the inclusion of public health nutritionist for information on nutrition and prevention of comorbidities in hypertensive patients
