ABOUT THE STANDARD MODEL OF PARTICLE PHYSICS

Resumo

This article discusses introductory aspects of the Standard Model of Particle Physics. The text aims to present some characteristics of the theory to consider its potential in science education, given that an analytical reflection on natural phenomena can contribute to systematic thinking. It is known that science and technology content is sometimes taught without addressing a background theoretical framework that underpins scientific systems. In the case of physics, the Standard Model is often not addressed, and due to its importance, this text aims to discuss it. The guiding question was: what aspects of physics can be discussed using the Standard Model? The sources used were: popular science magazines, books written by scientists and academic articles.
