Abstract

Platelet Rich Fibrin is an autologous platelet concentrate whose implication is to promote better and faster healing and repair of surgical lesions. The aim of this study was to review the literature on the use of PRF in periodontics. Methodology: the study was characterized as a review, based on a search in the literature, selecting cross-sectional, longitudinal studies, clinical case and systematic reviews, in Portuguese and English, indexed in the Capes, Medline and PubMed journal databases. Review: PRF has been used in periodontal regeneration for its healing capacity and for containing biologically active proteins that bind to a developing fibrin mesh or the extracellular matrix. Conclusion: it is observed that there is an expressive improvement in the process of tissue regeneration and healing when the PRF is also used in the treatment, which makes it an important ally in periodontal therapy.
