Abstract

The objective of this study is to present the laser bleaching and thermocatalytic techniques in deciduous teeth with color changes, due to dental traumatism. Both female and male patients five years old, showed respectively, darkening coronary in the upper right central incisor (51) with necrosis of pulp and the upper left central incisor (61) with endodontic treatment. After the endodontic treatment, in the tooth 51, using an iodoform paste, a laser bleaching technique with hydrogen peroxide 35% was carried out. Laser diode was also applied on the dental surface for 30s; this procedure was repeated three times in just one session. In the tooth 61, an internal bleaching with perborate and hydrogen peroxide 35% mixed in equal proportions, applied from a heat source was used. As a result of the bleaching sessions, satisfactory aesthetic improvement was observed from the laser and thermocatalytic techniques. Therefore, bleaching techniques are a viable alternative to treatment of color changes in deciduous teeth. Key words: Tooth bleaching. Deciduous. Child. Tooth discoloration. Esthetics.
