Abstract

In the period that corresponds to the mixed denture stage, some great dimensional changes occur in the dental arches. To deal with this phase of growth when some normality changes may be installed, as, for example, the anterior crowding that, being temporary or definitive, is always a reason of apprehension to parents, for the fear that the child may be developing an undesirable occlusion. It is the professional’s duty, specially to the odontopediatric dentist, to diagnose correctly, and thus, to propitiate the realization of the ap- propriate therapeutics procedure. The purpose of this article, through a short literature revision, is to point out some variables that help us in the precocious diagnosis of the anterior crowding, as well as, to conduct a secure orientation about the sorts of procedures that are most used in its prevention. Key words: anterior crowding; mixed denture; malocclusion.
