Abstract

The study of the polymer- ization shrinkage mechanism of composite resins became the researchers’ main objective, due to its direct relation in the main- tenance of the marginal sealing. This way, for the establishment of a good marginal sealing of a composite resin restoration, it is important that the material have the opportunity to relieve the ten- sion produced by polymerization shrinkage. Considering this, the proposal of this study consists in the approach of factors, such as, cavity configuration, light inten- sity and the use of low elasticity module bases, as well as their in- fluence in the maintenance of the union to the dental structure. Key words: polymeriza- tion shrinkage, composite resins, marginal grooves, elasticity modu- le, polymerization shrinkage ten- sion
