The Sjögren’s Syndrome (SS) is characterized by the triad: xeros- tomia, keratoconjuntivitis sicca, and another autoimmune disease. The authors report the clinical and cytopathological aspects found in a patient with an enlargement of the major salivary glands dur- ing a 2-year period. The clinical examination showed dryness an redness of the oral mucosa, as well as angular cheilitis. In the cyto- pathologi-cal examination, a slight and diffuse lynphocytic infiltration was observed. The xerostomia, the patient’s main complaint, was treated with artificial saliva. The mouth can be the indicator of this pathology that, eventually, takes a malignant course. Key words: Sjögren’s syn- drome, xerostomia, autoimmune disease.Downloads
