Ampliação do forame apical: revisão crítica da literatura

O objetivo desse trabalho foi realizar uma revisao de literatura sobre a ampliação foraminal apical e abordar as vantagens e desvantagens em relação à sintomatologia, limpeza e alteração da anatomia radicular durante o preparo químico-mecânico. Foi realizada uma pesquisa da literatura através das bases de dados: PubMed/MedLine, Biblioteca virtual de saúde, Scielo e Google Acadêmico. Foram considerados para revisão, artigos dos últimos 20 anos. Os critérios de busca incluíram palavras-chave: foraminal enlargement; endodontics. Foram considerados apenas estudos na língua inglesa. Os trabalhos incluídos foram relacionados aos respectivos submetemas: sintomatologia pós-operatória, limpeza e desinfecção apical, manutenção da anatomia apical. O eixo temático relacionando ampliação foraminal à limpeza da região apical foi constituído por um total de 17 estudos, uma revisão sistemática, 4 ensaios clínicos randomizados e 11 estudos experimentais ex vivo e 1 estudo experimental in vitro.Concluiu-se através desse estudo que a literatura correlaciona a ampliação foraminal à sintomas pós-operatórios, no entanto, existe diferenças metodológicas entre os estudos incluídos.
