Abstract

A retrospective study of the frequency of facial fractures in patients admitted at the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic at Hospital Antonio Targino fromJanua- ry/2001 to December/2002, being considered the gender, age, etiolo- gical agents and fractured area. The highest prevalence was found in males (89.7%) and in ages from 20 to 29 (42.1%). Amongetiological agents, traffic accident was the one which caused more fractures followed by physical violence. The most frequent fractures were those which occurred in zygomatic bane.
