Espessura óssea da região parassagital e palatina mediana em pacientes hipo, normo e hiperdivergentes

Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a espessura óssea nas regiões palatina mediana e parassagital por meio de tomografia computadorizada de feixe cônico (TCFC) em pacientes com diferentes padrões faciais esqueléticos verticais. Método: Foram analisadas imagens de TCFC de 68 pacientes adultos (32 homens e 36 mulheres), com idade entre 19 e 63 anos. Três grupos foram estabelecidos de acordo com o padrão esquelético vertical, determinado pelo ângulo do plano mandibular do SNGoGn (hipodivergente: < 28°, normodivergente: 28°–36° e hiperdivergente: > 36°). A espessura do osso palatino foi medida nas reconstruções coronais 14 mm posterior ao Ponto A (região da terceira rugosidade palatina) e 28 mm posterior ao Ponto A (região do primeiro molar), ao longo da sutura palatina média e 3 mm parassagitalmente nos lados direito e esquerdo. Resultados: Embora tenha sido observada uma tendência de maior espessura óssea em pacientes hipodivergentes, a correlação não foi estatisticamente significativa. Nenhuma correlação foi encontrada entre as medidas palatinas anteriores e posteriores. Conclusão: Não foi observada correlação entre o padrão facial vertical e a espessura do osso palatino. Embora o osso mais espesso tenha sido mais prevalente no grupo hipodivergente e o osso mais fino no grupo hiperdivergente, o padrão esquelético vertical não pode ser considerado um determinante da espessura óssea na região palatina média.
