Paradental cyst – an update and case report

The paradental cyst is an odontogenic lesion which occurs next to the cervical margin of the lateral surface of the root as a consequence of an inflammatory process in a pocket periodontal. It is usually located on the buccal and distal aspects of partially or fully erupted mandibular third molars. The objective of this study was to report a case of bone lesion located in the distal region of a partially erupted mandibular third molar, which was found a routine radiographic exam of a female patient who showed pericoronitis. The diagnosis of paradental cyst was defined after correlation of the radiographic, surgical and microscopic findings. These findings and the differential diagnosis of the paradental cyst with other lesions are also considered.Downloads
