Extradition Requests by Poland Against Nazi Criminals Residing in Brazil

The purpose of this article is to explain about the trials of extradition requests made by the Polish government against two Nazi criminals found in Brazil: Franz Stangl and Gustav Wagner, the first tried by the Supreme Federal Court in 1967 and the second in 1979. Both Nazis had worked at the Hartheim euthanasia institute and in the Sobibor death camp, while Stangl was also commander of Treblinka. Poland's extradition requests were rejected in both cases, based on the statute of limitations of the crimes committed.
