origin and extinction of the Proletarian Claimant Party of Paraná (1933-1934)

This article analyzes the process of the formation and extinction of the Proletarian Claimant Party of Paraná (1933-1934). Through a case study, the objective of this analysis is produce knowledge about the internal organization and the electoral action of the minority political parties that arose in the Brazilian states at the time of the Provisional Government (1930-1934). First, evidenced is given that the creation of the aforementioned party resulted from the alliance between veteran leaders and newcomers to the Paraná labor movement. Second, it should be noted that this party was successful in recruiting allies in municipalities in the interior. Third, evidenced is shown that low electoral performance and disagreements between leaders led to the extinction of such a party.
