ESPORTE E POLÍTICA EXTERNA EM CUBA NAS DÉCADAS DE 1970 E 1980

O presente artigo contém uma análise acerca do papel desempenhado pelo esporte na política externa cubana durante as décadas de 1970 e 1980. A reconstrução histórica dos nexos entre esporte e política externa em Cuba foi formulada com base nos resultados de um trabalho de investigação e análise junto aos documentos outrora secretos do governo dos Estados Unidos. Durante o recorte histórico deste artigo, o intercâmbio esportivo cubano incluiu o envio e o recebimento de equipes e delegações esportivas, a formação de especialistas esportivos estrangeiros dentro de Cuba, o aumento da presença de treinadores estrangeiros atuando no esporte cubano, o envio de treinadores cubanos para o exterior, e a construção de infraestrutura esportiva em outros países do Terceiro Mundo.
