Resumo

Neste artigo discuto o surgimento das metrópoles modernas, enfocando a transformação da paisagem natural em artificial como resultado da ação colonizadora do homem sobre o meio. Destaco a possibilidade de análise do fenômeno que as obras de arte oferecem ao espectador, refletindo sobre as relações entre arte, cidade e história, no entendimento de que tal discussão amplia o nosso conhecimento sobre o caótico mundo contemporâneo.
