Resumo

El texto se plantea reflexionar sobre la sociedad paraguaya previa a la guerra en tanto su identidad como nación. Identidad implicada con el relacionamiento con la tierra y la construcción del Estado. Se plantea que esta identidad más que con el Paraguay como nación se relacionaba con su terruño, con su comunidad local, a pesar del incipiente proceso de construcción de un Estado moderno por Carlos Antonio López. Palabras clave: Identidad. Arrendamiento. Mestizaje.
