Abstract

The objective of this article is to collaborate theoretically for the work with the vocabulary of the encounter between the Right-wing and Catholicism in Brazil and Argentina in the 1930s and, thus, to constitute the typology of this encounter. For this, we seek to clarify the cleavage between religious and modern interiority, which creates the tension that spreads from the religious to the political field, even today. In an attempt to solve this problem, here we resort to the theoretical and methodological subsidies of the dialogue between Carlo Ginzburg and Perry Anderson, to use them in the study of the wave of attacks against Jacques Maritain in Brazil and Argentina between 1937 and 1938, in specific and comparative analyzes of the encounter between the Right-wing and Catholicism in these two countries.
