Abstract

Resumo: Analisa-se neste estudo o tema “Democracia, Movimentos Sociais e o Meio Ambiente”, cuja relevância reside no entendimento da relação entre o processo democrático, os movimentos sociais e o meio ambiente. Este ensaio tem por objetivo geral demonstrar os aspectos relevantes da democracia antiga e moderna. São seus objetivos específicos identificar o papel da democracia e sua relação com os movimentos sociais e, por fim, verificar a relação entre democracia, movimentos sociais e proteção do meio ambiente. A metodologia utilizada na pesquisa consiste na análise exploratória e descritiva sobre o objeto de estudo por meio de levantamento bibliográfico em livros, documentos eletrônicos, teses, dissertações, revistas e periódicos etc. Como resultados esperados busca-se contribuir para melhor compreensão da realidade da democracia atual e de seus reflexos e avanços com relação aos movimentos sociais e a proteção ambiental no contexto brasileiro. Abstract: This paper analyses the theme “Democracy, social movements and the environment”, whose relevance lies in the understanding of the relationship between the democratic process, social movements and the environment. General objective of this test is to demonstrate the relevant aspects of ancient and modern democracy. Are your specific goals identify the role of democracy and its relationship with social movements and, finally, check the relationship between democracy, social movements, and protecting the environment. The research also examines how can society be a participant in the protection of the environment, specially through public hearings and commentaries to environmental licensing. The methodology used in the research is exploratory and descriptive about the object of study through bibliographical survey in books, electronic documents, theses, dissertations, magazines and periodicals etc. As expected results we seek to contribute to better understanding of the reality of the current democracy and your reflexes and advances with respect to social movements and environmental protection in the Brazilian context.
