Abstract

The present research presents the results of computational simulations of experimental fire in a container. For this, two computational fluid dynamics techniques were used, Fire Dynamics Simulator - FDS and OZone. The simulations carried out showed that the FDS, because it is a software that does not have graphical interface, ends up making the modeling laborious and time consuming, since its data entry is entirely done through text documents. However, when properly calibrated, the model is able to offer the user various data such as: temperature, smoke displacement, oxygen concentration, consideration of sprinklers, among a myriad of others, that can open a range of options to be carried out in the context of Building Fire Safety. OZone has a nice and intuitive graphical interface, which makes fire modeling easier and faster, generating fast results, however, the amount of variables obtained, in the vast majority of cases, is much more limited compared to the ones obtained through the SDS. Concluding that simulators are important tools, especially when calibrated through experimental results, in proposing solutions to the challenges of Fire Safety.
