Abstract

The study aimed an investigation of a daily relationship build up among an interdisciplinary team and the elderly residents in a Nursing Home. Based on that, we may say that a “new family” strategically comes up to promote health and quality of life.This study was conducted in a Nursing Home located in Porto Alegre where elderly persons have as their permanent home mixing up both sexes without restrictions of diseases with age running from 60 to 85 years old. A research was developed looking for a qualitative approach. The research data results came up from the permanent group of residents and the staff members. The study concluded that in the older successfully stage the quality of life is related with movement of the ideas showing an old person searching its identification with the source of wisdom – with freedom or not but able to give creative responses to the social changes, able to evaluate previous identities, the family relationship a friendly relationship which results leads to a “new elder stage” Key Words: Elderly.
