Abstract

The vestibular rehabilitation, generally recommended for the treatment of dysfunctions in the vestibular system, has been prescribed for people with other problems related to balance and to spacial orientation. This study, with a bibliographic basis, had as objective to make a synthesis of the studies about vestibular rehabilitation that are focused in other morbidities besides the vestibulopathies, pointing out the tendencies of investigations and the main results, specially the ones with interventions, in different situations. In order to do that, the studies about the theme in the data basis Lilacs, Science Direct e Scielo were mapped, and it was selected 13 papers for analysis. The studies found used the vestibular rehabilitation in the treatment of different problems from neuromotor and psychological origin. The vestibular rehabilitation seemed to be effective for morbidities as Parkinson, anxiety and depression. Moreover, it was associated to improvements in the quality of life in the physical, emotional and functional aspects; and mainly, to improvements of static and dynamic balance, as well as to the reduction of falls.
