Abstract

According to demographic projections, the elderly population is growing strongly. This enables the acquisition and development of diseases that may compromise the autonomy and independence of elderly interference, especially in its psychological context, social and family. The changes that set up can damage the overall functionality of the elderly, ill come to generate patterns of posture and balance, and subsequently, exposure to falls. This article aims to, through a literature review, studying the aging process and to understand the onset of neurologicals motors functions that interfere with mobility and flexibility of the elderly, may provide the occurrence of falls. Emphasize that are different dimensions that are involved in this process and how this involvement affect the quality of life of the elderly, emphasizing the role of the physiotherapist as a health promoter in this process.
