Chemical analysis of physico chemical parameter of soluction of digluconate of chlorhexidine 2,0% available commercially

Abstract

A chemical analysis consisting of 11 chlorhexidine digluconato 2,0% solutions was carried out at Dental Equipment Stores and also Manipulation Pharmacies from Porto Alegre - RS and Tubarão - SC, in order to check their specification according to the physicochemical parameter: chlorhexidine digluconato salt content through the High Performance Liquid Chromatograpchy (HPLC). The methodology used was employed by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety from Northern Ireland (1993), and duly adapted to this analysis. The results found, showed that only 2 out of the 11 samples were of the specification limits giving evidence that chlorhexidine digluconato is a quality control substance.
