The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of zinc-oxide eugenol (ZOE) provisional restorations on microleakage of composite restorations with margins located in enamel and cementum/ dentin, comparing two different adhesive systems. Forty human molars were selected and two standard cavities (3 x 2 x 2 mm) were prepared in buccal and lingual surfaces of each tooth. Teeth were randomly divided into two groups. Cavities from test group (A) were restorated with ZOE and stored for 5 day. One cavity of each sample in groups A and B were restorated using a conventional bond system, with previous acid etching (Single Bond™). The others cavities were restorated using a bond system with a self-etching primer (Clearfil SE Bond™). The cavities were filled with the composite material Z-250™ - 3M-ESPE. The samples remained for 2 hours at a dying solution. The degree or penetration of the colouring solution was valuated through a stereoscopic glass. The ZOE temporary restorative groups had hi ghest values of microleakage in cement- dentin interface only for the self-etching primer. Evaluating the same bond system in enamel, there was no statistical difference after the removal of the ZOE restoration. In group A and B, the Single Bond™ had lowers values of microleakage in cement-dentin than the Clearfil SE Bond™. The last one had betters values of microleakage in enamel interfaces for the samples of groups A and B than the other system. Key words: eugenol, dental leakage, substrate and adhesive.Downloads
