Abstract

The aim of this study was to estabilish the socioeconomic profile of patients who had been submitted to dental extraction in the Fa- culdade de Odontologia de Piracicaba - Unicamp. The information of 80 patients were analysed to verify: (a) the most extracted tooth; (b) the main extraction indications; (c) previous attempt to rehabilitate the tooth ; (d) the treatment that the patient expected to receive after the extraction; (e) and whether or not the patient presented any systemic disease. It was concluded that: the main exodontic indication was caries (68%); the majo- rity of the patients did not try to treat their tooth before extraction (76%); the majority expected to receive conventional prosthetic treatment on the course (42%); the most extracted tooth was the left inferior first molar.
