Abstract

The authors analysed the influence of the palate geometric shapes (deep, intermediate and flat) in the adaptation of thermic- cured acrylic resin base in upper complete dentures. The maladjust- ments between acrylic resin base and stone cast were measured from the cuts of the anterior, medium and posterior (post dam) regions of the palate, with the aid of a linear microscope. The results, analysed through the Tukey´s test (p< 0,05), showed that the major maladjustments occurred in pos- terior region of the palatal area, not being influenced by the palate geometric shapes. Key words: complete denture; dental materials; acrylic resin.
