Compound Odontoma: surgical case report

Abstract

The authors present a brief li-terature review and report a case of impaction of the right man- dibular second premolar (45) due to the ankylosis of the deciduos mandibular second molar (85) and to the presence of a compound odontoma. The surgical treatment consisted of extraction of the an- kylosed 85, removal of the tumor and liberation of the 45 for free eruption. After a two-years follow- up period, the correct position of the tooth 45 in the dental arch was observed. Key words: odontoma, com- pound odontoma, odontogenic tumor.
