Abstract

Varicella, commonly named chickenpox is a viral infection caused by varicella-zoster virus (VZV), exhibiting, in most instances, mild clinical manifestations. Later, the virus remains latent in sensitive nervous ganglion. Herpes zoster is the recurrent infection, presenting more severe symptoms, requiring medicinal therapeutics. Any pre- disponent factors are connected to recurrence, such as immunological system implication and advanced age. Thereby, a clinical case is reported in which the patient did not show usual patterns of VZV appearance. Key words: shingles, chikenpox, varicella-zoster.
