Pyogenic granuloma is a type of connective and vascular tissue hyperplasia, characterized as a non-neoplasic, reactive proliferative process, composed of granulation tissue, highly vascularizated in face of a chronic irritation with low intensity. The nomenclature pyogenic granuloma is inadequate, however, it is still used nowadays. It mainly affects young women and pregnant women in the region of keratinized mucosa, specially inserted gum. Extrabuccal lesions are uncommon and the occurrence in child are rare, making the diagnosis difficult. Due to its clinical characteristics, patients may often have aesthetic complaints and even discomfort due to bleeding. The purpose of this article is to report a pyogenic granuloma case in a 10-year-old girl in upper lip, that anamnesis and clinical experience defined the diagnosis hypotheses, favoring the best choice to chirurgic excision (excisional biopsy) and patient orientation. The anatomohistopathological exam result confirmed the diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma and the patient is without relapses, with function and esthetics reestablished.
