Abstract

The technique of the vascular corrosion model enables us to obtain reliable replicas of the normal or pathological tissue vasculature. In combination with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), this method provides details of vascular 3-dimensional anatomi- cal arrangement, the vascular diameter, cell endothe- lial and nucleus imprints as well as the model surface and distribution of blood vessels. Replica 3-dimensio- nal image provided by SEM is one of the advantages of this method. This study aims to describe the tech- nique of the vascular corrosion model, discussing its advantages and limitations as well as exemplifying its use in dental investigation. Key words: angiogenesis, wound healing, scanning electron microscopy, vascular corrosion model.
