Perimolysis: literature review

Abstract

The objective of this work is to present a bibliographical review on perimolysis, due to the difficul- ties that many professionals show in diagnosing and preventing this pathology. Perimolysis is a type of dental erosion, more and more frequent, both in children and in youngsters and adults, mainly due to modern habits of feeding. This wear causes severe loss of dental structure, as a consequen- ce of frequent contact of teeth with acids. It is intended, this way, to describe etiologies, diagnosis, pre- vention and the most appropriate treatments for this pathology. Key words: dental erosion, peri- molysis, dental wear.
