EVALUATION OF EXPECTATIONS AND FEELINGS OF STUDENTS OF DENTISTRY TO CALL AHEAD FOR PATIENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.

The experience of working and contact with patients is important for special education of future dentists, contributing to excellence for inner growth and life experience as a human being. The objectives were to assess what students attend to dental patients feel special, to analyze the student's behavior against these people, and determine what could be done to minimize the negative situations in patient care. For this research we used a specific questionnaire that analyzed the type of sentiment and expectations in relation to contact with special people, we assessed 100 undergraduates from the 3rd to the 8th term of the Faculty of Dentistry Unoeste, who have had contact with patients special. Students need not be identified. After collecting the questionnaires, data were organized and processed in percentage. Negative feelings were most common insecurity (29%) and difficulty (25%), and positive, need to take care with love (31%) and responsibility (30%). Behavioral adverse reactions were fear (36%) and sadness (25%) were positive and the care and protection (50%). For 54% of the students, seeing these patients is a vocation. We conclude that the feelings of the students had ambivalent, but the majority (66%) positive. To minimize the negative situations in the care of patients with special needs are advised that there are, besides the discipline, stages of experience and multidisciplinary approach, the emotions were shared, to gain greater security during the visit, as the development of feelings, attitudes guide , actions and relationships.Downloads
