Profile of the professional graduated at the Faculdade de Odontologia of the Universidade de Passo Fundo/RS: from graduation to the professional reality

Abstract

The present work evaluated the profile of the dentist gradua- ted during the period from 1965 to 1999, at the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Passo Fundo. A questionnaire was used for the data collection. Results show that the majority of the professionals work in the state ofRio Grande do Sul and consider continuous educa- tion a necessary matter. They are satisfied with the dental practice, but seem to be unsatisfied with the financial aspects of the profession. Results also demonstrate a lack of an integral vision of health at- tention, realizing the patient as a whole being, inserted in a biologi- cal, social, economical and cultural contexto Key words: professional profile, professional formation, question- naire.
