Modern clinical considerations regarding intracanal dressing following pulpectomy

Abstract

Pulpectomy and endodontic treatment in a single appointment seems to be a rational approach, considering the reparative role of inflammation after pulp extirpa- tion and the absence of infection. However, endodontists or clini- cians may face the single appoint- ment as a very difficult procedure to be done, making the root canal dressing an important require- ment. This paper aims to highli- ght, through a literature review, the use of intracanal dressing following pulpectomy, concerning its effects; indications, properties and mechanism of action.
