Digitalized imaging is represented by the captu- re of image from an existent radiographic film (indi- rect digital image) using video camera, transparent reader scanner or another specific device with this purpose. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of dentists to identify image manipulations in digitalized panoramic radiographs. Thus, 15 digita- lized panoramic radiographs were manipulated, and their images were evaluated by 5 graduated profes- sionals with at least 2 years of experience and 5 re- cently graduated professionals. The findings showed a low percentage of right answers in determining the radiographic manipulations for both analyzed groups, There was no statistical difference between the groups. These results point out the need for a gre- ater control upon the use and legality of digitalized images. Key words: radiographic image enhancement, pano- ramic radiograph, computer-assisted image proces- sing.Downloads
