Abstract

This work intended to compare the optical density, in pre-establi- shed regions ofthe enamel, dentin, pulp chamber and alveolar bone through scanned radiographs for Digora system with films of diffe- rent sensitivity. A total of 70 films were used, with Ultra-speed with a exposure time of 0,4 seconds being considered the pattern. The other radiographs were taken using different exposure times: Ektaspeed Plus: 0,4 s; 0,3 s; 0,2 s and lnsight: 0,24 s; 0,2 s; 0,16 s. The results showed that Ektas- peed Plus film 0,20 s showed the highest optical density in total area, alveolar bone and chamber pulp, and lowest at enamel and dentin with significant statistical difference only for enamel, when compared to Ultra-speed to 0,4s that was considered the standard time. The other tested times and films presented optical density 10- wer than the standard one, except lnsigth 0,16s in which all areas reached the highest optical densi- ty. ln this last film there was no significant difference for enamel. There was significant difference only for the total area, enamel and dentin with lnsigth filmo AlI the other measurements showed significant statistical differences. Key words: intra-oral films, lnSi- ght, Ektaspeed Plus, optical den- sity, digitalized image.
