Diagnosis of periorbita! facia! traumatisms by computerized tomographies

Abstract

Facial traumatisms are common in urgency assistance in hospitals, and may show different origine and intensities. The face consists of a series of noble structures, among which, the eye socket. Knowledge on periorbital anatomy is of vital importance in achieving a correct diagnosis, as well às in understanding the etiology and treatment of trau- matisms ofthis region. Its complex anatomy and elaborated function make essential its detailed study. The use of computerized tomogra-phies (CTs) has extreme impor- tance for accurate diagnosis and the election of adequate surgical techniques. The aim of this study is to emphasize, through a litera-ture review, the importance ofthis image examination, relating it with the region anatomy.
