Abstract

Lichen Pl a nus CLP) is a common mucocutaneous ·chronic inflammatory disorder of uncer- tain etiology. Recently, an increa- singly strong association between LP and some systemic diseases has been suggested, especially Diabe- tes Mellitus and Hepatitis C virus infection. The present study aimed to make a critical review of the literature concerning this issue. Several hypotheses have discussed the pathogenetic mechanisms that support an association between oral LP and DMand HCVinfection. However, a direct cor rel ation between these systemic disorders and OLP ít is not well-defined yet.
