Abstract

From the beginning of the employment of ceramic indirect restorations, the dentistry started to live a new reality. To keep the improvement of these materials, the glass infiltred ceramic prosthetic crowns that possess larger strength, however they present difficulties in the previous superficial conditioning before the luting procedures. The aim of this study is to pointing a protocol of reinforced ceramic luting cement trough a literature revision concerning the different techniques of surface treatment of prosthetic crowns. The main used methods are the aluminum oxide sandblasting and silica sandblasting, as well as the application of fluoric acid and the silanization. Nowadays, the researches have been appearing for the silica sandblasting as the most efficient way to provide the retention between this ceramic material and the dental structures, when procedures of adhesive luting are used. The cements that present phosphates monomers also present evidences that they are more effective in this cementation technique clinically.
