Abstract

Odontomas are the most common odontogenic tumors. They are considered hamartomas (development anomaly), comprised of many dental tissues such as enamel, dentin, cementum, and pulp. Odontomas can be classified as complexes when they present tissue disorganization; or compounds, when the dental tissues are organized. The present report describes a case of a 30- year-old female who looked for dental care because of a mouth lesion, involving the mandible left molar region, related to a volume increase on the extra-oral region. By confronting clinical and radiological characteristics and the patient’s report on the lesion evolution, it was possible to diagnose it as a type of complex odontoma. The same lesion was defined as atypical because it was erupted in the oral cavity. The lesion was surgically removed, and the treatment successful.
