The aim was to report the student experience and the results of an extension project carried out remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic in the city of Governador Valadares, MG by students and teachers of the Dentistry and Physiotherapy course of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. The target audience were adult users of social networks. Health promotion actions were carried out through the social networks Instagram, Facebook and Youtube, with the construction of informative educational material based on accessible scientific evidence and objectives, elaborated using diverse strategies, in order to replace the individual as the author of his health. The health issues addressed included the most prevalent health problems in the population, self-care and general health with a special focus on COVID-19. The material was posted weekly in the format of posts, videos, Reels, etc. The accesses, likes and participation were analyzed, being observed high involvement of internet users. The actions developed in the project further strengthen the formation of the student as an active agent in the promotion and prevention of health problems. The use of social networks was a tool for dissemination and access to relevant health information, promoting the development of skills necessary for professional training.
