A Formação da ALALC no Contexto da Revolução Cubana

Abstract

No final dos anos 1950 e início dos anos 1960, Argentina e Brasil alcançaram um patamar inédito de aliança política, resultando no encontro de Uruguaiana e na fundação da ALALC (Associação Latino Americana de Livre Comércio). Além disso, ambos os países se comprometeram a defender a livre determinação de Cuba, ameaçada pelos Estados Unidos após a revolução de 1959. Com as relações internacionais tensionadas por esses acontecimentos, a diplomacia entre os dois maiores países da América do Sul foi prejudicada. Assim, tecemos algumas reflexões sobre o contexto do movimento de integração no Cone Sul, e sua articulação com a problemática advinda da situação revolucionária na ilha. Neste artigo, destacamos o papel interno dos militares, que desempenharam uma função importante nesta etapa da guerra fria. Palavras Chaves: Integração, diplomacia, revolução.
