Políticas agrárias no Mato Grosso: algumas reflexões

Resumo

O presente texto objetiva disponibilizar ao leitor alguns elementos prelimina-res para a compreensão do contexto e a implementação das políticas agrárias nacionais e estaduais, especialmente em decorrência da promulgação da lei nº 4.504/64, também conhecida como Estatuto da Terra. Destacamos nesta reflexão o processo de colonização ocorrido no Mato Grosso e no Centro-Oeste brasileiro, que, tendo como fundamento a legislação e planos de governo, acabou por viabilizar na região um processo de “modernização conservadora”, com profundos impactos nas populações indígenas, posseiros e demais ocu-pantes da terra, que não dispunham do título de propriedade. O presente artigo é fruto de investigações realizadas no Grupo de Pesquisa História, Terra e Trabalho do Departamento de História da UFMT/Cuiabá. Palavras-chave: Políticas agrárias.
