the political use of the novel Dr. Zhivago by Boris Pasternak

In the early years of the Cold War, the National Security Council of the United States developed an anti-Marxist and counterrevolutionary editorial program containing titles from various areas of knowledge, including novels. This article aims to analyze the use of the novel form by this editorial program, and as an example, the publication, in the West, of the novel O Dr. Zhivago by Soviet writer Boris Pasternak. The novel was published, distributed, raised to the category of bestseller and widely used as a political weapon by the action of the two main US agencies responsible for executing the program, the Central Intelligence Agency - CIA and the United States Information Agency - USIA.
