Abstract

Between 1939 and 1940, the USSR recovered several territories lost after its defeat in the First World War, based on the definition of zones of influence by the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact. The last of these regions were Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina, under Romanian occupation. The aim is to present the Soviet version of the facts, present in its official history, published in the USSR and in works intended to convey its motives abroad, in a climate of Cold War and exchange of accusations. It also analyzes them in light of the possibilities and decision-making of that moment and the rewritings and interpretations of history with the influence of the Cold War in its production. It uses discourse analysis as proposed by Maingueneau and Charaudeau, and practiced by Chomsky. Publications in Russian, Portuguese and Spanish by official Soviet authors were selected.
