Resumen

Este trabalho tem como objetivo fazer uma breve análise dos procedimentos (formas a que está subordinado o cumprimento dos atos e trâmites do processo investigativo) empregados por E. P. Thompson no manuseio de fontes para um estudo de história, a fim de discutir o significado da expressão “construir um objeto de pesquisa”. A iniciativa deste trabalho é discutir as “manhas e artimanhas” do oficio do historiador. Para isso, este trabalho fará a decomposição dos procedimentos metodológicos do artigo “Patrícios e plebeus”, que está publicado no livro Costumes em comum, de modo que sejam demonstradas as etapas que o historiador inglês rigorosamente cumpriu até constituir uma “verdade em história”.
